I think you're fully aware you don't have HD TV - you know that you won't get an HD picture without subscribing to an HD service.
So discounting that, I'd say it's the signal your cable (or digital) company is sending - a scart lead might help, but it might be the fault of your provider.
We recently changed from a standard Sky+ box to an HD sky+ box - we have a 33" LCD HD tv - the STANDARD picture (never mind the HD channels) improved immeasurably with the new box - that's not to do with the fact it's an HD box, but rather the quality of the decoding of the signal is better, so we get a better picture all around.
If you're with cable, I'd contact your cable company - otherwise, check the quality of the aerial lead and signal - that could be your problem. depends - if your watching sky hd. then play with the settings. any other channel will look muck anyways cos they ain't hi def. its also worth buying hi quality cables (hdmi, dvi and component are your best options for a decent picture) If you're watching TV, you need to get HD signal, or back way up. Have you subscribed to hd tv you probably have it hooked up wrong,more than half of the people out there who have an hd tv have it all wrong. YOU NEED TO GET SOME GOLD TIP SCART LEADS,THEY MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE TO THE PICTURE QUALITY. TESCO SELL THEM VERY CHEAP. like the other people said ,it is usually down to wrong cables,bad connections and fiddling with the controls.
I have a really good tv and it takes fine tuning to get it just right(it drives my girlfriend mad)it's worth it in the end. you were ripped off my friend. you didnt buy and HDTV you purchaed and SDTV which costs less and still is a plasma tv. There are consumer reports out about companys like VISIO and others who are tricking customers into purchasing low priced plasma TVs. SDTV is not HDTV and does not have an integrated tuner to recieve LOCAL HD Channels. If you just bought it get your 2000 back and purchase something with 1920x1080p HD quality. maybe you did not look at it befor you bought it
