which tv will have a better picture, plasma or projection?

plasma by far, just a bit more expensive, not bad when you consider projection tvs need a new lamp about every 3 years at $300 each. Plasma, the projection tv's I have seen the picture is not too clear. lasma has the best picture. The only concern is eventual burning out of the screen. The screens used to have limited play tme, but now is better. I got an LCD and found it eacellent too. Only complaint is the lag time for station changing. Overall performance wise I would say the Plasma would be the best.

But there are some rules like always to getting the best out of a plasma system. First thing is that if you are placing your Plasma in a bright room affects your picture quality. By placing your Plasma in a bright room you will decrease the colour contrast ratio and thus decrease picture quality. In this case an LCD would be better in this kind of environment. Plasma, as rated to last you just as long as an LCD now, both giving you a life of approx 60,000 hours.

Oh and just out of interest, if you still wanted to go projection. There is a technology called LCOS (liquid crystal on silicone display) system that is much better at handling picture than any other system that I have seen (including Plasma). LCOS systems use less power and give you the highest contrast ratio, as well as the highest picture/colour replication. It also currently has the fastest refresh rate, ratings of less the 1 millisec response time. Only downfall is after about 160 degrees it does get a little dark, but bang for your buck and size it is a better value for your money. Currently there are 2 LCOS based systems, Sony SXRD as well as JVC HD-ILA models. LCOS bulbs/lamps are designed to last you longer, giving you about 6,000 - 8,000 hours depending on use.
