phylips, that's the only good one. I bought a cheap one and it's display simply stinks. All I can tell you is that I purchased a SHARP in 2002 and I am very happy with it.
Go to Consumer Magazine web-site. They test just about every product out there. They are independent and take no contributions from manufacturers and so their ratings are right on the money. Most TV set are ensemble on the same factory overseas, like Mexico. Radio Shack sells the AKAI and the price range from $800 to $1200. The TV looks good and the quality is good too. I bought an LG 32" LCD HD ready TV. Its great, would recommend. It cost ￡899. You should wait until next year to buy an LCD television. I just heard on the news this morning that due to over production this year of LCD televisions there will be a 20-30% price decrese in 2007. Sony BRAVIA KDL-V32XBR1 = great tv Any of the big name brands would be a safe bet. They all produce good TVs, but here are a few of my opinions: 1. Sony always has the best, or near the best, picture quality, but they are also alway pricier, 2. Samsung has a very strong reputation and a great range of plat panel LCD TV, and they are not quite as expensive as the Sonys, 3. Toshiba and LG have the best deals right now. I'm a Toshiba man, and I just purchased a 32" for my mother (model # 32HL86).
As long as you stick with a good brand, you should be okay. Do your homework, shop around, and look at the picture quality in the stores.
