Answer:
If you have cable or satellite, you will not be affected in any way whatsoever, because the switch only affects over the air signals. If you currently get your stations over the air from an antenna, you will need some type of converter box to continue doing that. probably not...deprends on what kind yes. i wouldnt put a date on when it stops.
but when all the stations do finally transfer over, you might be able to pick up your local channels and thats it.
i would suggest gettting a new TV now when the prices are OK, versus the raised prices in 5 or so years because all others are obcelete From what I heard from the media and news, all analog television with cathoray tubes that people have bought in the past will require a converter box that will be hooked up to the television in order to receive over the air HDTV signals. So basically your old televisions sets won't be useless. Pricing for the converter box has not yet been announced. yes it will work but it must be compatable with a SD or HD set top box
