Why do I get a blue screen with "video" in the corner of my set when I turn it on?

I CAN WATCH DVD'S ON THE TELEVISION, BUT CANNOT GET THE "VIDEO" AND BLUE SCREEN OFF THE SET. WE HAVE LOST THE REMOTE BUT PURCHASED A UNIVERSAL REMOTE FOR SANYO BUT HAVE HAD NO LUCK IN REMOVING THE "VIDEO" AND BLUE SCREEN.

Your TV has at least two different inputs. One is the A/V or "video" (the yellow, red and white plugs from your DVD player) and the other should be the reguar co-ax cable connection. To change the inputs, you would usually use an "input select" or "line" option however many basic universal remotes do not support this function. You can try simply pressing channel-up, as the "video" input is often placed below channel 1. If this does not work, and you cannot find this button on the TV itself, then you may need to get a more advanced universal remote that has this function. You have to set up your new remote with the codes from the old tv. There's probably a button on the remote that says VIDEO or AUX. press it and it should take you back to normal tv. If your remote has a TV/Video key, press it to switch to TV

Otherwise press ch+/ch- sometimes it cycles through all inputs, including video

Other keys that may work are "Input" or "Source" Your set probably has "picture in picture" feature turned on (abbreviated PIP). You'll have to look at your universal remote to see if it can access the PIP funcition. An alternative is look at your TV set and see if it has a MENU button. You might be able to get to the PIP setting there.
