Which of these 2 HDTV's should I buy? This CRT or LCD?

I am working with a bit of a budget.

Of these two HDTV's which is the better value and better HDTV

lcd is much better than crt and it uses less power. lcd Go with the LCD, that CRT is gonna have a big tube hanging out the back which takes up alot of space. The Sony is the better bet without question. CRT tech may be considered 'Old School' in this age of Plasma, LCD and DLP but the savvy buyers as well as most experts in the field will tell you that as of today CRT's are still the king of the hill in terms picture quality, not to mention longevity of that picture quality as there are no pesky arc lamp bulbs that need replacing at intervals of 18-24 months for $200 a pop like on those 'High Tech' sets!

These aren't the kind of things that they'll tell you in the showroom as commission checks ans sheer ignorance are most often the rule rather than the exception when it comes to the sales puppies at the big 'Brick and Mortar' chains. I was in the same boat as to this decision recently and spent over a month doing intensive research on various AV forums and web sites, in the end dropping my money on a Hitachi 51 inch CRT rear projection TV and I couldn't be happier in terms of picture quality, the fact that it only cost $699 shipped only sweetening the pot!

So you've got my input, stick with CRT and let the latest tech shake the bugs out for a few more years before going that route. You'll not be sorry. Good luck and enjoy your new set... regardless of what you choose.
