Which TV would you go for LCD or Plasma? Whats the difference?

If you want a tv 106cm (42") or larger, plasma is the way to go. Rich colours, larger screen size capabilites (currently up to 65") high reliablilty (can last as long as tube tv's now). Plasmas are also very heavy so it should be put in one spot and stay there. Also don't watch any TV with watermarks or other permanant screen features for at least 200 hours after first use to reduce the risk of burn-in (the permanant etching of TV on your screen)
If you want a smaller screen, make sure you get an LCD TV which is not a dodgy no-name or wrip-off name brand with at least 1366 x 768 resolution. The highest resolution you can get is true HD at 1920 x 1080 resolution. LCD's are alot lighter and not at risk of burn-in like plasmas. Their only problems is they don't display blacks as well and some models cannot handle blur too well.
If you buy either TV, make sure you get a HD digital set top box for excellent picture quality and use better cables such as HDMI and Component (red, blue and green video cables instead of the single yellow video cable). Plasma
LCD= Light It displayed fast-moving action with "ghosting" and could be viewed best only when looking directly at the screen or from a slight angle.
Plasma= Gas (neon and xenon) LCD for sure... Plasmas have 5 years life time... LCD HD 5.1 Go for LCD, definetly.
If you watch a channel with the logo permently in the corner, it will burn forever onto a plasma tv. LCD I've had a Plasma and it went wrong with 8 months! If I hadn't had insurance the bill would have been ￡400! Then again it went wrong a year later and this time was written off by the insurance company as an uneconomical repair! I've replaced with an LCD as I've learnt these are a lot more reliable AND they use a third of the power of a Plasma LCD.... LCD's are a little more expensive (Price coming down VERY rapidly) But you don't have to worry about burn in. I honestly don't know why anyone WOULD want to buy a plasma now. Vizio is going to be releasing a 47" LCD TV around the time of the Super Bowl for less than $2000 bucks. Whats REALLY COOL? It's going to be 1080p! Throw in HDMI and you'll be set for Xbox360 or PS3 goodness! I spent 2400 plus s/h for my 42" Sceptre lcd...It's nice but I think I'm going to be upgrading as soon as Vizio kicks out their new set. Lcd Hd I just bought a toshiba great tv nice and clear with out hd sorce yet like anything its swings and roundabouts.
