Advice Needed! for a 40" to 42" HD LCD Display which DOESNT have a tuner or built-in speak

I want a 40" to 42" LCD HD 1080 display to use with home cinema set up.

I don't want one with a built in TV tuner - I get all my TV from Sky (can't get a terrestrial signal where I live). Or with built in speakers as I use my AV receiver (Sony STR-DG710) for sound and as my HDMI source switcher.

I've looked around and for some reason all the displays I've seen are cheaper with the tuner and speaker built-in than without!

That's what sells..that's why it's cheap.

You're almost looking for a "customized" TV.

No speakers, no tuner...that's a 1080P LCD monitor.

I think I'd call SONY and get it from them.rather than go from store to store and NOT find one..who knows, they may have to step you <up> into the Commercial, or even the Professional Line to get you what you want.

Ahhh the PVM lineup.I remember them well.They had a good "feel" to them, compared to the consumer line.. what you are looking for is a monitor, they are out there, but expect to pay more.

wg there is less demand for units without speakers or tuner therefore the price is going to be higher, it is cheaper for sony or phillips or whoever to mass produce units with all options than to produce a few without them.

My recommendation would be to buy the standard set and accept that you have redundant features on it, at least you will have a backup if your sound system dies.
