What is the free/geographical phone number for National Insurance Number?
The number I currently have is 0845 6000 643.
This number, just like those starting by 0870 will probably cost me like 50 pences a minute or more.
I'm looking for a free or geographical telephone number for the same service.
I am aware of the website http://saynoto0870.com/ but when I use it nothing turns up for my request.
I just don't want to pay 2 pounds for a phone call, that would be ridiculous.
Can anyone help me out please?

0845 is not the same as 0870. The 0845 is the price of a local phone call, the other one is a national rate.
Should not cost you very much at all! 0845 is local rate. Failing that, why not drop into the Jobcentre? Numbers in UK starting 0845 are charged at local rate. If you happen to have the address of the NI office you are calling you could try dialling their local exchange number followed immediately by 6000 643 [eg 20723 600 643] this might enable you to circumvent their system and get straight through to an operator. 01793590969 only avilble mon-fri office hours
