What is the approximate cost to get another phone jack installed in my apartment?

It all depends on how far the cable has to be run and the surroundings (old homes or buildings are more difficult). In an office environment (usually easier because of the drop "T" bar ceilings) it would be approximately $100-150 for a new jack. It would probably be more for a house or apartment.

Why not look at a cordless phone or there are cordless jack devices (I haven't used one so I can't speak to how well they work but you plug a transmitter device into your jack and the receiver device into an electrical outlet where you want the phone). for another line or to use as an extension?? for another line get a hold of you carrier for an extension you can go to your local hardware store and get all the stuff you need from there Why not install it yourself? Also most of the time, Apt. Managers will not let you drill holes in the buildng, or run them on the outside. So if you live on the top floor, with attic access, you might be able to have one installed for around $50 - $75...If not you can get a double cordless phone set...or if it is for a pc or satellite reciever, get a wireless phone line extender from radio shack for about $50 they are easy to install free if you do it yourself. There is usually an additional charge for having that line if someone else does it. An extension is easily done. you can do that yourself. An additional phone line will be installed by your carrier. your best bet is to contact your phone company. depending on where you live, the charge may be hourly instead of a blanket or flat rate. Bell South charges 75 dollars for the 1st, and 59 for the second.....just use an electric jack, plug it into the eclectic outlet! get one in Target much cheaper! Well, if this is just for another phone on the same line, why not just buy a new cordless phone with 2 handsets?? Many of them, (like Panasonic) now come with two headsets. You just plug the second one's charger into a regular power plug. No other wiring needed.. Some people have 3 or cordless phones in their house, instead of the extra wiring hassle.. don't even mess with the phone jacks, it just cost too much, buy all hand held phones...cordless uniden or anything 5.8 mhz
