Vondage Question?
Currently We have ATT phone with ATT/Yahoo dsl
If We switch to Vondage will We have any problems with service or billing from ATT?
Answers:
if you plan on terminating your land line and going with DRY or NAKED DSL (which is not available in all areas) then I suggest calling and ordering a NEW line for your DSL with out phone service... and canceling your current line, and DSL once the installation of the new DSL line is complete... otherwise there is a great chance that you will not have any service for several days (or possibly weeks) while they disconnect your current services, and provision your current line for DRY or NAKED DSL... also... some areas, or some carriers will not remove the voice side of your DSL line once you already have it bundled together, so you may have no choice but to have an order placed for a new DSL line..
you should be able to port your line from land line to VoIP or to cellular... but be careful... VoIP providers have yet to be mandated to port lines FROM VoIP, so if you get vonage, and port your number, and then are unhappy, or wish to switch back, you may not be able to take your number with you once vonage takes control of the number...
an alternative to all of this mess is to get a double or tripple play package from your cable company, phone, internet, and cable tv... usually there is a promotion for $30 each for a year...
now back to your question... if you have a contract with at and t then you may have to pay a termination fee to cancel the voice side of your phone line...
