Do you think that Vonage will be closed down from Verizons lawsuit?

I'm on Vonage and really like it. I run my entire business on it. Will it be closed down by Verizon's lawsuit?

i do not believe that vonage will be out of business any time soon.. but that said.. napster was shut down, but it was too late the demand for such service was so high, that there are so many other file sharing communities now.. so even if vonage gets closed down, there will be twice as many voip companies tomorrow looking for your business... we as consumers (and former VZ employees) have the right to choose who provides our phone service, including voip companies. VZ would have never put the effort foward to start this whole FiOS thing if they werent worried about your cable company taking away all there business, so now they are going after the cable customers for there telivsion programming also.. there are no more phone companies, or cable companies, just media providers... hmmmmm.I don't think so...vonage is a big company.they just pay the fine and hang it on to the poor customer..they are making good money from all those poor souls getting vonage and them dumb it.look at all the disconnection fines.many ppl sign up and don't know how to set it up.I never understand it.if ppl are to dumb to set there time on a VCR, how do ya expect them to set up VoIP. Vonage is small potatoes compared to Verizon. Vonage will be better off settling these patent claims out of court in the future, and this will probably cripple their business model to the point where a buyout might be in the offing.

The system itself will survive. The brand, however, may not. There is just no long term business viability for VoIP companies, including Vonage. Verizon sued them and won. That means, Vonage and other VoIP companies are infringing on some patents that are held by Verizon.

Fortunately, Vonage has good brand recognition (among VoIP vendors) and hopefully, they will be able to parley that into an acquisition. Time is running out for them.
