Activesyncing my Pocket PC?
I just bought an older model iPAQ Pocket PC it is a few years old it is model 1940.
When i got it it had someone elses stuf fon it and the settings where all wierd so a Full Restore was done on it to bring back to factory settings. I hav eit on a charging cradle wich also connects it via USB to my computer. I downloaded activesync 4.5 from microsoft and it is installed on my computer. But when I run activesync it doesn't detect any device attached to my computer. I have gone thru multiple troubleshoot steps on both the PC and the iPAQ and nothing seems to work, I know the cradle and iPAQ work because the guy who had it previously was using up until a few days ago on his computer. What am I doing wrong?

Ah. This is very simple - so I'll try to keep it that way. The PDA you have there uses Windows Mobile version 2002 or 2003 - and the activesync version you're using is fr Windows Mobile 2005 (WM5). Trust good old Microsoft to make things easy for you! Uninstall the Activesync you have currently on your PC - go to the address below - and download version 3.8 and install that - hey presto - synching heaven! (Sadly - Microsoft have removed it from their website - but it's available from the location below (I've tested it and it's correct and virus free etc)).
