no risk-- it is good practice for security-- particularly if you use a wireless router !! There are no risks at all. None i dont think theres much of a risk, check with your provider no risk, but why would you want to? Do it all the time. none other than if you ISP sends any firmware updates to your Broadband Hub/Router but i expect these would be sent next time it is online.
Turn it off by all means. No risk, I usually just put my modem on standby at night, but shutting down your computer won't hurt it, as long as you let it close windows down first. Otherwise, you may lose any un-saved data. i switch mine off every nite, and had no problems, it just starts up as normal (10seconds or so ) i did notice a small change when i actually took the plug out though, like it was starting from brand new no risks attached just switch on when needed and wait a few minuits to warm up good luck nada, only downside is the hub needs about a minute to reconnect and boot itself up. Relax, i was worried about the same thing when i first got it, but it won't have any adverse side affects like requring you to set the whole damn thing up again!
Oh yeah, doesn't the wireless just suck on the hub? It can't even go through the room next door! none....it might take a minute or two for your dsl router to train-up buth thats the only thing. you should definitely switch off your broadband hub when youre not using it
otherwise the internet will leak out and break your hard drive
this is why there are so many porn sites on the internet i always switch of the hub after use. Although it means wen i wanna use the net, i hav to wait a minute 4 it to connect. It means i get less viruses etc.
