wind turbine connecting to electricity supply?

b&q are selling wind turbines can any one tell me how they are connected to the house supply as they dont come with meter to sell back to electric supplier

These are connected to the house ringmain via a fused spur.The turbine generates A.C. which is stepped up to 240v using an invertor and is synchronised to the mains supply.The turbines are rated at 1KVA at full output and what you draw more than the turbine output will be supplemented from the mains.Hope this answers your question. They probably only generate enough leccy to power a 40 watt bulb. Why would you want to sell it back to the supplier. I think they have enough. I think they produce leaflets about the wind turbines in-store. There's no point is asking one of the monkeys that work there, thick as pig sh!t. The solar panels they sell are produced by rmsolar.com, there's downloadable instalation diagrams on their website Basically you don't connect it to the house supply as it's illegal to bypass the meter like that. Wind turbines are a subsidiary source of power and can't produce enough to meet demand. You can't sell back what you generate. If you have a wind turbine you can use it on appliances not connected to the rings and they are meant for things like gazebos and patio sheds. I beg you- unless you know what you're doing, don't connect one up anywhere. You can get heart failure from a good dose of power from what was supposed to be a dead circuit. Wind Turbines are connected to the mains supply through an inverter. However to do this requires a qualified electrician who's familiar with installing wind turbines. I would suggest one from B&Q isn't designed for household use.
