why will my dvd not read the dvd?

IT could be scratched, There is a way to smooth it a bit...but you may not agree, use a little colgate toothpaste and rub it around a bit all around the disc. Make sure it's completly clean before you put it in the player again. it needs cleaning It's fu*ked Dust or scratched disk. It's a bit complicated for a female but it's probably not compatible. That means they aren't the same format. I prefer books? is the disc for the correct region of the player,also the disc may be faulty or the player itself The DVD is maybe a different region to the DVD player. There could be several reasons:

Your DVD is not compatible with your DVD player

The DVD could be scratched

If it is DVD that someone created for you, it may not have been closed properly in order for it to be read by other DVD players than the one it was created on

Or, it could simply be a bad DVD Problems could be:

Bad dvd disc(copied or scratched)

Laser needs cleaning

The player and dvd are different regions(not compatible with each other) buy a dvd lens cleaner ￡10 is a cheap one.

Is the dvd region 2?, if not and you haven't a multi region dvd player, then it won't work.

Is this dvd a hired or brought one, if so it should work.

If its a blank dvd that someone has " burned " information onto, is it the right format for the dvd to play ( playback format in handbook ), ie -rw or +rw what kind of DVD reader u have ... what kind of DVD ur feeding 'em..
