Honestly, I think you are right. But I think they will lead the revolution to direct download. HD and Bluray and just intermediate steps to the enviable. i dont think it matters to the, they still with make 40 bucks a pop on a dvd...... Since HD DVD was chosen as the format for pornography the future looks grim for Blu-Ray.
The PS3 will keep them afloat for awhile but porn grosses more annually than the entire Hollywood movie industry. Yes - whichever format that industry decides to make standard will become the standard everywhere else.
