Will I be able to tell the difference between Blu Ray/HD-DVD's and normal DVD's?
I have a bog standard TV with no fancy speaker system. I don't plan to invest in either a Blu Ray or a HD-DVD player as of yet. But is the difference as huge as VHS to DVD? Is there any difference without a HD telly?

Without an HD-TV you wont notice a difference at all. This is the case with both Blu Ray and HDDVD. Blu ray disks however hold up to 50GB of data/memory. (Blu ray writers are available too, but the ones sold for public use only write up to 25GB, while the commercial blu ray writers and disks still do 50GB.) Not really worth it if you ask me. At least not yet. Last time Sony tried to dominate a public recording format like this it went belly up....ala Beta. And HDDVD may go the route of Laser disk. So save your money man! Blue disc that can hold up to 200 gigs No. even though blu ray may be a little better the player is expensive no, without a HD TV you wont notice anything really, just wait a year or so and then sum up whats happening, you might find that there is another format thats better, or go all HDD and get ridd of discs altogether.
