Why doesn't Blockbuster Video care about the quality of the DVD they rent out?

In the last six months or so it seems as if the quality of the DVDs is terrible. the discs are badly scratched, covered with fingerprints, or worse. Is it a company policy not to check the discs when they are returned? Every disc we have rented in the past five months, with maybe 3 exceptions, have been unplayable. (I have 3 different ways of playing a DVD, and I keep the equipment spotless.) Is it the customer's responsibility to check each disc before leaving the store? I have tried to contact Blockbuster Corp by email but they sent me a form back that told me that my concerns would be addressed.

Blockbuster simply does not enough time or money (people) to clean up DVDs after every use and after users that have no pride or take any care in the handling of someone else's property. They probably do not handle their own DVDs that way.

They could take the time and hire more people but that would put their rates up so high no one would go there. They are really getting pushed by illegal downloading of movies and legitimate companies such as Netflix. There are thousands dvds, they can't make sure everyone of them is good. No. They don't care as long as dere getn paid... Caveat Emptor. I wouldn't blame blockbuster,

I would blame the irresponsible slobs that appear to use sand paper on them, soak them in alchohol and drive over them during their rental period. Because they touch themselves at night. Didn't you know that?

Actually, the fact of the matter is they don't have the money to support whatever they do, and while it would seem like something they should be doing, what really should happen is you should bring it to the attention of the staff members, and they can bring it up with their boss.... And perhaps that would end the dick scratchers.... er, disc scratchers. Netflix is just as bad.
