WHY WON'T BURNED DVDs PLAY IN MY DVD PLAYER?

My friend told me that I should use DVD-R instead of DVD+R because DVD-R is compatible with most DVD players.

Any other suggestions or ideas?

*My DVD player is a JVC HR-XVC20U

*I burned the DVD using Nero 7.

Some DVD players aren't meant to read burned DVDs. I had several people complain about Sony DVD players that wouldn't play burned movies. The players made before burners were on the market just can't read burned discs. The same thing happened when CD burners came out. It may be time to upgrade the player. Most likely there isn't enough light being reflected for your DVD player. I've had some in the past (Onkyo) that wouldn't play burnt discs. When you burn the disk, burn at a slower than necessary speed. That might help. I hate to say it and am living proof: the more money you spend on a dvd player, the less compatible it is. I have an APEX and an AMW that play everything I throw at them. cuz urs sucks Depends on what you are trying to burn. If you are burning your own material, then you might have a problem with the recording speed or even the brand of DVD media. I myself have had that problem. If you are trying to burn copyrighted material, then you need to get some software that can decrypt the disk and put it into a form that Nero can properly process.

** Just a quick note to smartass. What you said isn't entirely accurate. I have a 1st generation Toshiba DVD player that I purchased when dvd players came out. It will play burned dvd's but I had to update the bios on the burner so that it had the right booktyping when it created the image. As long as you booktype the disk as a DVD-ROM it should be playable in any dvd player. I have not found a DVD player my burned disk didn't work in yet.. From what i have heard and from what i know some of the well known brads like Sony and other high end brand don't play burned DVD but if you get a cheap one it will most likely play Your friend was right. One works better than the other. The bad ones are holdovers from when they tried to keep you from copying your own cd by saying you would sell it. I think someone should start a class action suit against the people who are always trying to sue us for copying as they illegally made it so we can't copy for our own use. Because you dvd playa dont like pirated CD,s. LOL i will ask my uncle
