why is that house phones need wires and cell phones don't?

You are talking 2 different animals there. They both are used in communication, but Landline phones have been around for a long time. Do a search and find some history on them...Cell phones are the next evolutionary step in communications. Right now landlines are still around because cell phones run off of digital towers which have limited range and do not work if not powered. Landline phones run on Fiberoptics (if your not talking digital cable) and do not require power, so they are more reliable and reach more people. Best thing to do is to look up the way cell phones and landlines work. Also, do not get the impression that cell phones work on "satellites" they work from towers, just like radio transmissions. satalites well...... HOUSE phones are used at the house. CELL phones are for work and travel. well satilites and home fones arnt meant to go portable and you can get wireless house phones too First thing you should do is do a search on phones to see what you can come up with...a lot of sites provide info on their products & how they work, you're going to have to do a little research & learn a few things along the way. Cell phones work by using cell towers (satellites). because cell phones run off the satellites unlike house phones. go and goggle it or yahoo it too. it should give you some info. All phones translate your voice to a signal (analog or digital). Your house phone uses wires (a land line) to send a signal to the other person you are calling. It (the signal) passes from your phone through the wires to a communications facility which tells/directs the signal where to go. Your cell phone sends a signal using RF (radio frequency) just like a home cordless phone , but insead of the signal going to the recharger/ base, it goes to a cell phone tower, which goes the the same type of communication facility that directs your call. well: according to "Regular type & Cell Phones" see
