I have just had a contract phone upgrade and so put a new pay and go sim card in my old phone.Its accepted the sim fine.I want to sell it but dont want to put a tenner in it and find it locks up on me.Will it be ok.Its the same network as the contract one by the way.

Yes, the SIM card is what controls your account. Throw a tenner or even an Andrew or a Benjamin in it. It'll be fine.

If it the same provider it is fine to put credit on the phone.
Perhaps you should get it unlocked, you will get a better price for it, if you sell it.
What phone is it? I think most contract phones are locked. This means that you cannot put in another sim and expect it to work.
The answer to your question depends on which network you have (i.e. O2, Orange, Vodafone, etc.). I think O2 are the only ones that have unblocked phones.
I would do one of the following:
- borrow a loaded sim from one of your friends and try it in your phone.
- call up your network people and check if it will work. They should be able to answer you straight away.
