Cell phone manufacturers often agree to sign exclusive dealership contracts with cell phone providers. For example, in the United States you can only buy the Motorola SLVR on Cingular, because Cingular paid motorola for exclusive sales rights for a certain amount of time. Just purchase an unlocked side kick and put your sim card in it and it will be fine. T-Mobile and Cingular both use GSM technlogy that is fully interchangable.
