Who has the best cell phone rates for two lines, used only in emergencies?
My husband and I are looking for a low rate on a shared cell phone plan. Who's the best around?

You should seriously consider using the cell phone in all cases, NOT just for emergencies. It's cheaper to only have the basic HOME phone plan just for emergencies!
Or give up your home phone - (You can still use your home phone for 911 even without phone service) If it's truly for emergencies only, then why not use a pre-paid plan - you add minutes to the plan as you need them (because you've used them, or they have expired). If you only want to use it for emergencies. You can buy a Motorolla V170 at Family dollar for $35 and charge it with a TracFone card that can be purchased in various locations including Wal-Mart. If you use coupons, you can get the minutes down to about 4 cents and you eliminate the monthly charge, taxes and fees of a normal cell plan. We have had a TracFone for 2 years and we have had no problems using it anywhere, even when we were in Alaska.
