A good plan for children?

I am looking for a phone and a plan for my daughter age 10. I want her to be able to call emergency numbers and a few others. I have seen the firefly phone. Is this the best for kids? I don't want her to be using up all her minutes calling friends and nonesential stuff.

nopr, not firefly, your best bet would be going through att prepaid. Decent rate plan and nice ,user friendly phone starts at $9.99 . I suggest you go to http://cellphonesmarket.com/viewforum.ph... and do some homework. have fun she is WAY too young for a cell phone. just wait until shes in high school, because then she should be old enough to be a responsible person. get her a rogers phone with a my5 plan....who get unlimited talk and text to 5 people.....put you and an emergency contact in two of them and let the other 3 be friends..... local talk and text is just 10$ a month long distance is 15$ a month :) the firefly phone is a great choice, and very easy to use for young children because it only has four buttons. It takes very little time to contact parents and she can only call people that you want her to. You also control how she spends her minutes and stuff. alot of other phones have 'Fixed Dialing'. that means that you can program numbers into the Address Book and she can only send/recv calls from those specific numbers. if you do that, make sure that you program 911 into it.
