Any modern DVD player will play all formats of DVD, some of the older players (from perhaps 3 years or older), may only play certain formats.
I have a DVD player which is about 4 or 5 years old and plays all DVD's but I've also got one which is slightly newer and that one doesn't play all DVD's. Both were purchased in the UK. I am pretty sure "DVD" is universal..im 99% sure.. it dependz on da disc i dont ******* know good question Probably not, unless the player you are using has the region code for Canada. Each player and DVD carries a region code, which are different between Canada and the UK. Had this problem with a friend about a year ago, she's in Ireland. Never did get it to work. Not if the DVD is locked to the North American region (region 1) and the DVD player only plays European region (region 2) DVDs.
The DVD player might be able to play all regions, in which case it will say region 0 on it. it should. at least from what i heard... if your UK DVD player doesn't play Region 1 DVD, try searching for the regiion hack that is available to your DVD player.
