why do you wire some seaker systems in to a sub wooffer and not others

It depends upon what you have. If you have a surround receiver,

then you connect all speakers to that, but if you don't, then you

use the powered subwoofer to power the speakers. Check with

your powered subwoofer's owner's manual for details.

T h e a t e r i n g ! Well it depends casue most speakers come with a built in Sub Woofer and some that dont u add a Bass or if they do have it then u can still add a extra bass boost. The subwoofer provides the bass frequencies. If your speaker setup is bassy enough for you then there is no need for the subwoofer (most speakers have a bass componant).

Also subwoofer sare usually in 5.1 systems (2 front L/R, one front centre, 2 rear L/R being the 5 and the subwoofer being the 1)

If your system is not 5.1 then it won't automatically have the subwoofer - and if you don't require the extra bass in your 5.1 setup you don't need to connect it. because the speakers cant handle the bass.. so they pass thru the sub first to output the bass then the sound to the speakers.. i konw thats true for the BOSE speakers setups..

i have my custom bult set up.. and have the sub and speakers connected directly to the reciever.. In some subwoofer/satellite systems, there is a filter built into the subwoofer which splits the low bass in the music signal so it goes only to the subwoofer, leaving higher frequencies for the satellite speakers.
