why do i need HDTV cable box, when TV has integrated tuner?
I pay $8.95 a month for a HD box and I have an HDTV tuner in my TV. What am I doing Wrong!

Duh! The cable company makes money off of cable box rentals.
If you have a very new HDTV it probably has CableCard. Your Cable Company will fight you - but you’re entitled to rent just the card for a couple of dollars a month. It’s the law. (The card is about the size of a credit card and fits the CableCard slot in new HDTV’s.)
Good Luck integrated tuner is for the OTA, over the air antannae. With the OTA you can watch local HD tv programs for free without paying any fees to your cable company. TV has a tuner built in for the reception of off air signals (antenna) at best you might be able to pick up only a few of the local channels from the city you live in. If you live in a more rural area your antenna won't pick up much of anything. The HD antenna bandwith is only supposed to travel 25-30 miles from the actual broadcast towers. The one downfall of not using the cable box is that you won't get the neat on screen guide...
In fact, the money I saved by NOT renting the cable box covered the cost of the HD package. Check the back of your TV and make sure it has a slot for a cable card. If it does, call the cable company and make arrangements.
The answers that are telling you can't do this are WRONG. I do this myself. As long as you have a slot for a cable card, you don't need a digital cable box The integrated tuner is for OTA (free over-the-air) HD channels only. Your HD cable box will allow you to view non-OTA HD channels like ESPN, TNT, Showtime, HBO, including local HD channels.
