whether adding more speakers will increase the effect of home theatre system.?

Better to save up to buy better speakers. It would smother the sound from the subwoofer. And it would be less crisp. So dont waste your time. okay, first off....10w???? sounds like you need a whole new system. find out what wattage your speakers are capable of and get a receiver that can push out up to that amount. More power = better sound, period. Second, there are receivers out that will do 6.1 or 7.1 descrete channels, but since 98% of DVDs and including HDTV is 5.1, there isn't a need for that kind of system now. Impressive, but useless. Like the other guy said, you just spread the sound between one or two more channels and it loses depth. Though, as I mentioned in the beginning, start with a new system where you can get about 100w/channel and you'll be much happier. NO! even if you did, your amp wouldn't handle it, and the dvd's mostly wouldn't either. Save up and get a good cheap system. I may cop abuse for this, but if you're reasonably happy with your current system, splurge on a decent av receiver, then buy some speakers from op shops etc. get some old, big ones. Later, buy some nice new ones. You won't regret it. Quality over quantity first. For example, a high performance 2-channel audio system will outperform an average HTIB system.
