when viewing dvds - which is better - wide screen or regular?

A lot of people have got it completely wrong. Wide-screen doesn't cut off the picture, a wide-screen picture that is adapted to 4:3 cuts off the picture. For me, if the screen is 27" or larger I prefer the wide-screen version. If the TV is smaller than that the image gets too small and I prefer full screen. wide screen, you get more of the picture... regular def.!!! ive seen both and its like you see more with the regular. widescreen actually cuts part of the screen and you can miss important things so regular is better. First off, it depends on what type of TV you have, most people prefer to fill their screens, because they think they are getting ripped off somehow by having black bars on their screen.

From a person who enjoys the highest quality experience when watching a movie, I think the better ways is wide screen, because you see the entire picture as it was meant to be watched. when they companies reformat to regular4:3 ratio(normal screens),

they actually cut off the few inches on either side, so when you watch a movie where the scenery is important you don't get the full effect I would prefer wide screen because its better picture and thats how the movie theaters have their screens widescreen...you see all of the film image that you would have seen at the theater. this may cause the images to be a little smaller...but the whole view is better IT ALL DEPENDS ; MOVIES LIKE 10 COMMANDMENTS; BEN HERR; OR ANY OTHER ACTION FILM; WHERE THERE IS ALOT OF MOVING SCENES I LIKE THE WIDE SCREEN wide screen... that's how it's shown in the theater.. full screen cuts out a lot of the picture... T hat all depends on the format used to record the original media. Use the info on the back of the DVD box as a guide for your viewing pleasure.
