Try a different DVD. If you are experiencing the same problem no matter what DVD you put in, then it's time to get a new one -a better one. They're pretty inexpensive nowadays.

It may not be reading due to dust or scratches on the dvd. this happened to me once, and what I had to do was take the cover of the dvd player and blow/wipe the laser very gently because it had a lot of dust on the lens and the laser wasn't getting through it BUY A NEW DVD PLAYER. Try another one - if you get the same, your player may need the attention of an eletronics engineer. try to play a cleaning disc. Lens, might be dirty... If it doesn't help take it to a technical assistance try cleaning off the disc, and make sure its setting in the tray completely flat. Your eye on the dvd reader may be dirty. you can buy special cleaners for it. If that doesn't work I think its time to replace the dvd player. ur player cant scan the dvd maybe it is not an original dvd. if it is a cheaper one, like mine, sometimes it gets a glitch, just eject the DVD then put it in again, sometimes it works, one time I re inserted it like 3 times and finally it accepted it - good luck Get a DVD lens cleaner disc. you hope its not a piece of crap "toshiba" because i install home theaters for a living and i think half of them do that. they will fix it, for about 20% more than a new one cost. and you will get it back in about 2 years...lol Flip it over.
