whats the difference between dolby through coaxial and analog?

Essentially you need to connect a player like this one to a receiver or sound card in your PC, then go from the receiver/sound card to your speakers. Not sure if it will work with your audio system or not since you do not mention any audio system. You also need some sort of receiver or amplifier for you speakers. The DVD player and speaker system in not enough alone you need some sort of amplification to hear the speakers.

You will not lose any portion of the sound just the way it is reproduced. it is more sharper and cleaner sound through the digital sound In order to get Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound, you have to use a digital connection. If you only use the L/R outputs, the best surround mode you can achieve is Dolby Pro Logic (which doesn't sound as good as DD or DTS). Since you only have analog inputs you can't DD or DTS surround modes. The problem isn't your speakers, it's your receiver. Any five speaker system can play DD material if the receiver supports DD.
