what is the deal with these new hd and bluetooth dvd players?

r the thinking of improving dvd players so they they r better that hd and blutooth, r the hd and blutooths pricy, do they go onto computers etc. gimme all the info

basically both of these formats hold more data allowing you to view movies at higher resolutions (better quality) using modern high defenition televisions. You can buy them for computers too. s-p-e-l-l c-h-e-c-k. You're probably too young to remember the Beta and VHS wars. Lets just say VHS won out. It seems to be the similar tug of war with HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Both will play Standard DVD's but cannot yet be compatible with each other. Wait and see who comes out on top. One more time, but in English. I believe you mean Blu-Ray. Both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are higher definition discs, HD-DVD can do 720p and 1080i, and Blue-Ray can do 720p. 1080i, and 1080p.

Regular DVDs can only do 480p max. Some players have upconverting chips that use algorithms to interpret the image and interpolate between the pixels to create a higher resolution signal. But this is just an interpretation, and can never be as good as a natively higher resolution signal. Some people might not be able to tell the difference, which means that with some movies with less detail and no fast moving scenes, it might look just as good, but it will never look better than HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. Once you compare with fast action movies, or movies with a lot of detail, the HD-DVD and Blue-Ray will be noticeably superior to an upconverted DVD signal.

For computers, you would need to buy an HD-DVD drive, or a Blu-Ray drive. Not sure if they make those currently. But it won't work with your computer's current DVD drive.
