what componites would you recommend i get for my system to be?
just starting out looking into a home theater system. don't know what oppitions i have for sound, and componites for what they do. i'm not looking for the best but something more like middle of the road. i don't want to leave anything out, or miss anything.

I like SONY but Samsung is cheaper (breaks more, too, judging by the mixed reviews). if you're on a tight budget, look for some decent Home Theater In A Box. Sony produce really good sound like Panasonic HT-995 and the Sony DAV series, those YAMAHA and Pioneer package not bad also. Depending on your desires you can do it for anywhere from a few hundred bucks to several thousand. You will need an audio/video receiver (unless you opt for an amplifier and separate tuner), speakers, a dvd player (recorder?), and a television set. You will need a bunch of cables to string it all together. They sell "home theatre in a box" setups, but you should be careful as some of the cabling and components might tend to be kind of cheesy.
When selecting a receiver try to get as many digital inputs as possible within your budget. Usually they give you both digital coaxial and toslink connectors. To get the most out of your system, you will want components with digital output as well. The wattage of the system needs to be enough to drive the speakers you plan on connecting to it.
