Wireless speakers - What is the best solution?
I am looking to get a home theatre set up (dolby DTS or 5.1) with wireless speakers.
I have seen that the majority on the market only offer wireless rear speakers which use infra red and arent reliable, as well as being expensive.
I would have thought that there was a setup that used wifi instead of infra red? Can anyone confirm this? If so where do I get it from?
What are your experiences with wireless speakers? Should I get infra red, somethign else, or just stick to wires?

Go to www.gizmodo.com and do a search for wifi speakers creative labs are soon to be releasing a set or go to www.avegasystems.com they are an Australia company. I would just stay with the wires.
The infra red are peaces of junk. They will cut out, and sound really bad at times.
Wires have the most direct conection, and you can have more power output with wired systems because the amp is in the recever, and not the speaker box. stick to the wired ones. the wifi is available from sony although it provides good quality is very costly and i must say it has no difference to an infrared the range is just more Hi,

Experience with 5.1/7.1 shows that full range rear speakers can provide benefits as far as sound quality is concerned. Bass is generally treated as 'non-directional' but in practise this is not so until relativel low frequencies are reached - about the levels from floor standing speakers. The wireless speakers I have seen generally have a limited frequency range. So price for price you can probably do better with wired.
