Will there be a winner between HD DVD vs. Blu-Ray?

I bought an HD DVD player only to find that several movies I want are only being released on Blu-Ray.

Will they allow a dual format player to be released?

i think neither will win , there is enough room for both formats to prosper. and there are too many companies on both sides to have one give up. in the near future there will be players that will play both , although they will be expensive. they will allow it but the manufacturer has to pay royalties to both hddvd and bluray so it will probably cost the same or alittle less than buying two seperate units. I think that Blu-Ray will win because PS3 will spread fast !!

Although why the rush? Wait 6 months and see who is ahead!

even though bluray cost it must better LG just announced the first dual format DVD player at CES. Later this year, you should see them in stores. It retails for $1200.

Buying an HD-DVD or BluRay only DVD player is wasting your money because it is going to take a while for this format war to be over with. I also suggest waiting, but you already bought a player. There is no question that dual format players will be available (LG demonstrated one at the Consumer Electronics Show this week). In addition, Warner is releasing movies on combination discs that have HD-DVD on one side and BluRay on the other. I think HD-DVD because it has Microsoft behind it. I like blu-ray. It holds more gigs, but Blu-ray has Sony backing it. Remember Betamax it was better than VHS but got devoured. Watch history repeat itself. Click this link to see the score:

http://www.whydoesmyhometheatersuck.com/... The dual format LG BH100 is due out in February but will cost $1200. But for that price you can by a HD-DVD player & a PS3 that plays Blu-ray and pay less. That way you have both players plus an awesome video game console.
