Why is there such a huge price spectrum for HDMI cables?

I mean it goes from $10 to $200 dollars. Does the $200 ones do something the $10 ones don't?

No, the expensive ones don't do anything the cheap ones don't. Aside from warranties, there's no difference in performance. Here's a little secret Monster Cable doesn't want you to know: Digital doesn't care. As long as a digital signal is reaching the other end of the cable, it's as good as it can be. With digital, you either have a signal or you don't, there's no in between, so unlike analog cables, in which cable quality DOES matter, the cheapest HDMI cable will perform just as well as the most expensive one. It's called price gouging, taking advantage of the average consumer who does not understand the technology. Buy the cheapest cable you can get. If it works at all, you are getting everthing the cable needs to provide. Even if it breaks, you can replace it several times before reaching the cost of those high-end cables. Monster Cables are evil. They charge a fortune, and shame on Circuit City and Best Buy for almost exclusively selling these.

Is there a difference? Maybe if you had a 10K+ entertainment system and a discerning eye.

But otherwise, go with generic. I bought several HDMI cables and Monster HDMI cables - and I could see no difference.

Monster Cable is run by a Chinese guy, and locally they went into his Hillsborough, CA mansion. The guy is a total tasteless gaudy retard. He has like ten 50 inch plasma screens and Caesar's Palace style busts all over the house.
