Why is my receiver short circuiting?
Hello All....I hooked up a new home theater in a box just a couple days ago. Everything was going fine for a couple days, and now it keeps cutting out. I hooked up a old receiver and it did the same, this time showing the message "Protect". I looked it up in the manual, and it says that it is short circuiting. So, it's happening to both receivers....What can I do to stop this?

Had the same problem
The negative and positive of one of your spearker wire maybe touching. In fact, I'm sure of it because my receiver says "Protected" as well. I would trace and reconnected all of the spearkers Godfather, here is an offer you can't refuse.
Check your speaker connections on both your receiver and your speakers to make sure that one wire is not touching another wire, this will cause a short. And PLEASE tell me that you have not spliced any speaker wire to make a longer speaker run. If you have disconnect the wire and get speaker wire that is not spliced together. I have spliced speaker wire many times with no problem. Just make sure that no bare wire is exposed. I agree with the other answers that you may have speaker wires touching at some place. Look for one of the fine strands of wire hanging loose at one of the terminals (either at the speaker end of the amp end). I'm having the exact same problem with my home theater system, in fact, you can look at my question and some of the answers I got, it may help with your problem
