MARK LEVINSON That a tough question because there really are so many small makers out that specialize in sick systems for ungodly prices.
I have seen many but will give you three popular brands that are high end but also mainstream meaning you can actully go to a store and buy them.
My personal favorite is conrad Johnson. They still us vacuum tubes for their top stuff and when I listened to them it was amazing.
Next would be a McIntosh. I always know I'm dealing with an audiophile when they mention this brand. Looks cool and sound great.
Lastly I would have to say Primare. a distributor named Sumiko has brought this marval from sweden. I love the look and the sound is pure and true. The price is within reason too.
so there you go and i didn't even include speakers because that is very personal.
Bose... lol....thats just silly I currently have a yamaha receiver and boston acoustic 5.1 system. Very happy with that combination.
My system in the basement will be a NAD T773 receiver and Ascend Acoustics 7.1 system. That, I am going to be freaking thrilled with......I'm going to live down there and my wife isn't going to like it.
I'm sorry, but if you have any kind of money to spend do not go with Bose. Very commercial.....there marketing has done a good job for years.
