Which is better for a media room, Bose Acoustimass 10 or Harmon/Kardon HKTS 18?

i'm setting up my media room and planing to use a denon AVR-2307CI receiver for it. i just have a question on which is better for speekers, Bose or Harman/Kardon? pleese help me!!!

The Acoustimas 10 would generally just be wasting your high quality amplifier as it works by using the subwoofer as a high low converter and then reamplifying through an amplifier in the subwoofer, ergo I'd highly unrecommend that system. The Harmon Kardon is an okay unit, though anytime you can go with separate components, you'll get a better sound for generally less money.

If you do four Polk Audio RM6801 speakers and a Polk center channel (not sure of your layout so I couldn't really recommend one) plus the subwoofer, it would sound a lot better. You could also go with four Definitive Technologies Pro-Monitor 800 speakers, which cost about ten dollars more and have a much more clearly defined tweeter and sounds a little softer. With a full definitive package, all in all you'd be looking at $1100 or so and would sound the best.

Of course, it all depends on the room layout and what have you. Are you looking for small speakers? Obscure speakers? The best sound possible where size doesn't matter? In general in the realistic audio world, Bose is not highly regarded as quality speakers. However if they suit your individual needs, purchase them. Bose speakers are excellent in the high and low frequencies, but they lack in the mid-range. With mid-range being where the human voice falls, this can obviously be an issue. Harmon/Kardon is a respectable choice in the world of home theatre, but as is the case with any system, you can never tell until you listen to it in your own environment. Move the speakers around, play around with the tone controls, and find something that suits you. Brand names alone can't dictate a great system. the harman kardon will blow the bose away bose doesent sound good those are just people who dont know quality sound. I try to stay brand neutral.. but I really do NOT suggest you buy Bose. If you like Bose, you might as well save money and buy a 100 dollar HTIAB. However, listen to a number of choices, read some reviews, and most of all listen to your choices. Pick what you like the sound of.
