T h e a t e r i n g ! well what i seen from my brother ps#3 blue ray is far better then any thing on the market bye far. I suppose HD would be best. I am not really sure what blue ray is. Honestly, I cannot tell the difference on any of it. And I work for a major cable company. LOL I prefer Blu-ray discs because they have more capacity and higher resolution supports. i see another VHS V BETAMAX war looming!!!. I've read many articles regarding HD DVD and Blu-ray and have kept up with the technological progress. In a nutshell, when Blu-ray first came out, many audio and video authorities were baffled by Blu-ray: not because of its so-called claim of superiority over HD-DVD, but because the content materials that first came out (First Element) looked like you were looking at a VHS tape!!!

As another respondent indicated, this seemed to be another Betamax war started by Sony. As to why Sony decided to go the Blu-ray route is because of wanting to have the franchise rights of their technology. Sony came out with DAT, SACD, and Beta max. All three failed miserably. Consumers don't want another format war. HD DVD was based on DVD technology which is a proven and rock-solid technology. (This is my opinion.) 1080p is 1080p regardless if it is HD DVD or Blu-ray. The only benefit of Blu-ray is disc capacity, but HD DVD can provide a Dual Layer Double Density --there, your disc capacity is now solved! Blu Ray is supposed to be the best because it has the least compression on sound and picture. HD DVD got the lead in the battle because they were out first, even though some of the players were clunkers. The best thing to do would be to go somewhere and see both formats for yourself. Most high-end home theater places will have demos playing that show one or both formats, so go and view for yourself. Ultimately, though, you should wait to see which format wins so you don't end up with a bunch of expensive coasters if you bought the wrong format.
