Which high definition DVD will win the next format war? HD-DVD or Blue-Ray DVD?

Think of buying a new high definition format player. I already own a Microsoft Xbox 360, but i am thinking about buying a Sony Playstation 3 (mainly for the blue-ray dvd player). I am unsure whether i shall keep the 360 and buy the addtional HD-DVD drive, or go all out for the Blue ray PS3?????????????

The best option is to wait. I also have been interested in a HD player since I purchased a HD TV. The problem is, it is still unclear which format will come out on top. Talk to any ol' timer who started building a library of Betamax videos. Let the entertainment kings battle it out. Of course the very reason this battle will take so long is consumers who will wait to invest in one format or the other :) I wish I knew this one!! I had the same issue on VHS and Betemax.

Either way, wait a year, and you'll have your answer. The prices will drop like crazy. My first CD player cost $350, now I can get a Progresive Scan Pioneer for $49 at Fry's!! It's starting to look like HD-DVD, since the players are cheaper and more people are buying them, but it's still too early to tell. Sony may yet pull a trick out of its sleeve.

I would either wait or buy the HD-DVD add-on drive. Until the format war is decided, movies will be released in both formats. If it turns out that Blu-Ray wins, you'll be able to get a player for way less than the $600 of a PS3. Well I try to look at everytning "Logically"....Blue Ray is said to be better.....Here's the diffs. Blue Ray cost more, but hold more. So in that aspect I turn to another point.....Lets take an avg. "John Doe" and he has an HDTV.....OK when he goes to purchase a piece of equipment.....He could care less about 360 or PS3.....He's gonna tell the guy at Circuit City or BB I want an HD-DVD player....WHY because he has an HDTV...not a BLUE RAY TV.....plus you also have to look at another thing....as a whole people want better and better, but they are also afraid of "CHANGE" . Look at the HDDVD Logo.....Looks like what????? YEP A DVD logo with HD slapped in front of it. So seeing that again....ppl have a tendencey to go with what they know.....DVD gave them great service for so many yrs.....so why not go with HDDVD......Plus AMERICANS LOVE acronyms.....WE shorten everything.......Remember Beta and VHS? Beta was short, but not an acronym.....We Americans love them....I guess we think it makes us sound more intelligent......"Yes sir i would like to buy a HD-DVD PLAYER!" not I want a blue ray disc player.....Almost sounds Childish. For the record also....HD-DVD is in 1080p also. Look at the link listed below and click on tech specs. PERSONALLY I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHO'S COMING OUT WITH A DVD3 PLAYER....YOU KNOW THE THING THAT HOLD 20,000 HD MOVIES IN THE PALM OF UR HAND AND U CAN TAKE IT ANYWHERE!!!! Also I have a HDDVD play along with the 360 and i think it's great! It appears that HD-DVD may be the winner, even though Blu-ray is more technically advanced. The final outcome may well be decided at CES (a major consumer electronics conference) this year. The Blu-ray have the significant technological advantage, but some how the favor is going to HD. i can't believe that people are so cheap as to ignore the future that is on the horizon. Sony and Disney are already producing movies for blue ray only. I 'm not sure microsoft has the ability to compete with those two movie giants unless microsoft gives schools and xbox owners free hd dvd players to force everyone to conform to that format kinda like they did with windows back in the day.
