Your ears are a far better judge of what sound you like than anyone that may answer you here. Apparently not on the floor as this makes the sound quality to drop. Depends on size of room and speaker output. Suggest you move them around to judge the best sound. Main speakers (left + right and subwoofer) should be in front of you. All others (should be in the rear at ear height when sitting). Put them at places that best suit you for the sound. In the corners at least 10 feet apart. Just above head height. ok 1st off dont make the mistake of putting all ya speakers up high. around 1.5 metres from the floor is the best place especially wirh suround speakers your 2 main speakers can be put up higher. buy a descent stereo with suround sound and it will show you. the general rule is have them at ear level when your sitting down. the sub can actually be placed anywhere in the room although behind the tv is the best place
