When I play DVD's the volume is often very low - why?
When I play DVD's on my DVD player and watch them thru my TV the volume is often extremely low. I have to turn the volume all the way up and even then I can barely hear it.
The volume on the TV works fine. There's no audio option on the DVD player.

DVD players have no sound of their own and when connected thru TV,they use TVs very small amplifier which is conventionally 4 - 10 watts only.DVD discs contain 6 different tracks of audio.TVs are capable to reproduce only 2 channel because all TV are designed to suit broadcasting standard i.e in FM stereo
DVD players are to be preferably played thru an amplifier or a home theatre receiver by connecting them on Optical digital or digital coaxial cables which has multichannel audio capability.If you want the best dvd sound,buy a home theatre You have a bad connection or connectors for audio.
Check the back of the T.V. and DVD player, and make sure the connections are firm.
Make sure you have the DVD connected to the audio INPUT jacks and not the OUTPUT jacks on the T.V. (I would bet this is your problem)
If that doesn't work try changing the cable(s).
If that doesn't work, the problem is internal on either the TV or DVD player, and you need to either replace or repair it.. it's possible the internal amplifier for the inputs are bad. try maybe a second (if you have one) set of inputs You have to go into the menu on your dvd player without a dvd in the carousel. That will get you into the audio setup.
