What's the besty way to position a 6.1 surround sound system in a L-shaped room?
I'm going to be dropping the wires from the attic and have the speakers mounted on the wall. If you were to picture an "L"...the t.v. is going to be positioned on the bottom right portion of the "L" in the center of the wall w/ the front speakers on the left and right. My rear right speaker will be fine, but having trouble w/ the positioning of the rear left since it will be on the other side of the room. That seems like the cleanest way to do it and I could adjust the balance. Anyone got a better idea?

You could use a speaker stand to keep the speaker distance equal to the right one. I would have the wire running under the couch to get to the stand.
My main worries would actually be your subwoofer, since you have a big room to pressurize make sure you have a powerful enough sub (or 2).
