What is the difference between a a DVD player and a blue ray disk or player?

Blu-ray is a high definition format with several new audio formats for 7.1 and greater surround sound encoded with it. The sampling rate and bandwidth of blu-ray audio is slightly superior to the forthcoming HD-DVD format. Both of which will require a seperate player, both of which will play current DVD's. NEITHER of which will make your current DVD's High-definition as suggested above.
