What is the cheapest way to get a very large screen? About a whole wall but good resolution too.....

Disadvantage of a projector at this low cost, you would need to watch it in a low-lit to dark room. If you cannot control your lighting, then get a rear projection DLP TV for a large image. If you only want a 40-55" image, then LCD and plasma will work. How cheap do u want it? if u want it huge it might be like 2-6grand. Here's a link to the BEST projector for the money...Don't forget to buy a movie screen...We have ours at about 64 inches, only sit about 10 feet away and it looks GREAT...We got an "open box" model for $329...I know the resolution is a bit low but try it out with the "30-day return policy...The FARUJA chip inside the projector makes the picture look wonderful.

The best, cheapest screen can indeed be had by painting a wall, but not with regular paint. You'll get a boost in quality by using ScreenGoo. Affordable screens can be had from Carada.

One important point is to not get hung up on size. However wide the screen is, you want to sit about 1.5-2x that distance away from the screen, or you're liable to see digital artifacts. Also, a picture that's too big will start to be too dim. Each projector has its limits. You'll be happier with 'large' and 'excellent' than you will be with 'huge' and 'okay' I think.

Of course, you'll have to add a source or two, at least a DVD player and perhaps an HD tuner (cable/satellite/PC).
