What is the best way to connect my computer's audio to my DVD player/ receiver?
The devices I want to connect are the JVC DVD Receiver model RX-DV3SL and my ASUS A8R-MVP motherboard's onboard audio. What's the best way to connect them so that I will have good surround sound coming out? Heard something about the sound signal being decoded either before or after going into the receiver. No idea what that's about. And might I need to purchase a good audio card? Any recommendations on one if I do?

For surround sound, you'll need to connect a coaxial digital audio cable (see link below) from the yellow RCA jack on the back of the computer to the matching jack on the receiver. Set the PC to output to that jack and set the input on the receiver appropriately, and you'll have your surround sound. i hooked my pc up to my home stereo- it was jvc also . all i done was hooked the a/v jack into the tape slot. it worked great to listen to my cd's had a 400 watt computer sound system. but i eventually upgraded to kenwood system
