What is the best DVD player (non Blu-Ray)?
I have a Dell 2300MP projector, which has a stunning picture quality. I currently own a Sony DVP-NS75H dvd player as well as a Sony DVP-NS55P player. The problem is that the 75H model has wavy black lines during darker scenes in movies (not the cables or connection, tried different cables as well as switching from HDMI to Component). I tried hooking up my older 55P model but suffer from poor picture brightness.
What is the best DVD player on the market right now (preferably under/around $150) that isn't Blu-ray. I don't care if it has HDMI or not, as long as it has Component, and I would prefer if it was HD-Upconvert capable.

You really should consider investing more in a DVD player to get the features and picture quality that you want. If you're going to get a DVD player from Sony, make sure it's an "ES" model. As you can see, that the regular Sony players are not that good. However, if it is possible, the best places to look are either on the one of the price/product comparison websites, and home theater magazine reveiw sites. Here's some to consider...

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = i would say the PS3 it plays DVDs and blu ray discs too and it will be way cheeper than current blu ray players it does so many things its a bargain Well, I don't quite have a projector setup like yours but my favorite player is the Philips-DVP642. Not only is it very affordable, but plays just about everything and as far as I can tell looks great. There's even a way to make a region free with a few clicks on the remote. I've recommended to 3 friends and family members and each one is extremely happy with it. Amazon is the place to get it.
