What is everything i need to buy some surround speakers?
So besides a TV what are the things that I need to for the speakers to work?

First and foremost you need a 5.1 surround sound reciever system.

It doesn't matter what brand you perfer. Sony is just as good as Panasonic and Aiwa. Basically the choice depends on what your money can buy.
The reciever will tell you how many speakers it supports as well as the number of subwoofers.
A 5.1 system will support 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer while a 5.2 will supoort 5 speakers and 2 subwoofers.
Then you must go out and get speakers for your system that match your desires. You can go with small sattelite speakers or large floor standing speakers.

You will also want to purchase a DVD PLAYER or combination dvd/Vcr player so you can watch movies in 5.1 or stereo sound (vcr)

Thats pretty much it.
All you do is plug the speakers into the back of the reciever and then plug the dvd player or Xbox or whatever you want to hear up to the reciever to. The reciever amplifies sound to the speakers.
If you don't want to go through the trouble of picking all this stuff out, Sony has boxed systems that are pretty damned good in themselves.

Also remember if you buy a boxed set, you don't have to waste time trying to figure out what to buy next. You'll also be saving upwards of $500 if you buy a boxed system. You pretty much need wires and connect to the TV right Here's the lowdown on surround sound:
